If you’ve been paying attention to the Adelaide music scene lately (and by the steady stream of bloody amazing acts we’ve been churning out, you really bloody should be) you would’ve noticed that there has been a massive shift toward super cool electronic-pop. One name that you simply can’t go past is local producer Oscilla, who’s just been signed to local artist collective Young Muscle.
Responsible for representing local heavyweights Flamingo and Archers, Young Muscle is a group dedicated to nurturing local talent and, through the creation of various events and parties, getting them noticed around Adelaide before they inevitably blow up.
In an electronic landscape where every second act is playing some terrible version of 80’s revivalism, Oscilla’s music feels fresh and new. Take the comfortable groove of Colours (featuring Allume) and the slow build of Right Here (featuring vocalist Kacee); there’s a lightness to his work. His music is complex but fun and inherently danceable. This is the type of glittery synth-pop that’s made for summer. Already an accomplished artist, his signing to Young Muscle ensures that he’ll keep developing and we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.
You can see Oscilla at the Adelaide Fringe at Pacificana on the 21st of February .
