Three of Adelaide's rising stars released new tunes recently, which are all already getting plenty of good responses - especially from the Triple j fam. Here's a quick rundown.

TKAY MAIDZA - M.O.B.
Glassy, synth-stabs and pitched-up repetitions of ‘baby’ - typical of PC Music - race to a trap-like drop with a heavy hoover-bass, obligatory 808 hi-hats and snares included, accompanied by quick-fire vocal delivery. Australian rapper Tkay Maidza has recently released her very poppy track, M.O.B. (Money Over Bitches - woooooord). Maidza has raced to prominence over the past few months, performing at Triple J’s Beat The Drum festival, Falls Festival and placing at number 100 in the Triple J Hottest 100 for her song Switch Lanes produced with all-round lovable dude Paces.
After filling her spot at the recently passed St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival, Tkay will be joining Charlie XCX on her upcoming Australian tour in April/May as well as more festival action at this year’s Groovin' The Moo. Killing it from all angles really.
JESSE DAVIDSON – LAIKA
Adelaide-based Jesse Davidson’s 'Laika', released on the February 5, is a sparse, reverb-laden, indie-pop, funk track. Hints of The xx can be heard in Davidson’s somber vocal delivery and the accompanying cavernous echo. Less ethereal than previous tunes, Laika is a very danceable track, consistent with his relaxed style, demonstrating strong promise for achieving considerable popularity in the near-future. The song has received a rotation spot on Triple J - wahoo!
TIMBERWOLF - FALLEN SUN
It feels like listening to the theme for Deadwood as the track begins. ‘Fallen Sun’ is a dramatic folk-rock track from 23 year-old, Adelaide-based Timberwolf (Chris Panousakis). Timberwolf’s plaintive, melodic voice, vaguely akin to Bon Iver’s and Matt Corby’s, is accompanied by eerie cymbal-crashes, reverb drenched piano and folky guitar-strums. A woman’s echoed voice contributes to the ethereal vibe.
'Fallen Sun' is now available from iTunes for your purchasing pleasure, with an upcoming single over Feb, March & April.
