Aussie hip-hop collective One Day know how to throw a party and finally there heading down to Adelaide to show us how it's done. One Day DJs Raph (Jackie Onassis) and Nick Lupi (Spit Syndicate) are gonna be laying it down with Jayteehazard and some Adelaide’s finest DJs this Saturday at the Ed Castle. We caught up with Raph to find out more about the shenanigans.
How did One Day parties come together?
They started as just us and some mates of ours playing some tunes and having a dance in the car park of a pub called Vic on the Park in Sydney. Over the course of about 6 months they grew and grew and grew until we had to move venues. We then started throwing them interstate in Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane and are now going 'round the country! Who would of thought that people like having a drink and a dance on a Sunday haha.
For us Adelaide heads who haven’t experienced a One Day party what can they expect at the Ed Castle?
The parties are just about having a bit of day time fun. There's nothing pretentious about them, it's just some fun, hip-hop and RnB tunes, some drinks and a dance if you're feeling up to it. There's nothing quite like being able to see the smile on the faces of people dancing.
Sydney is your home town - that shit ain’t open real late at the moment is it? Do you plan on kicking on all hours in Adelaide without Baird’s restrictions?
Sydney is in a bad way, that's for sure so we will be making the most of our time outside of NSW's archaic and patronising laws.
The more parties in Adelaide the better… Do you plan on coming back and making this a regular shindig?
Hopefully! People have been asking us to throw a party in Adelaide for ages, and we love it down there, so if all goes well we'd love to eventually make it a regular thing. Plus we've hooked up with one of our favourite wine producers Alpha Box & Dice for our own One Day Rosé , so plenty of reasons for us to keep coming back!
The party kicks off at 1pm tomorrow at the Ed Castle - tix on sale here or available for $10 on the door.
