How would you describe the kind of music you make?
honest, not thinking too much. it's about trusting and i think that comes through.
i don't think about my style heaps but so far what i've done is quite samply, gentle but strong through the details and feeling :)
Who are some of your favourite Adelaide acts right now?
allume (elena from hummingbird's solo stuff), across the aether, oliver white, lonelyspeck
What’s your view on the current/growing electronic scene in Adelaide and its niches?
it feels like there are more different communities developing and popping up which is cool. there are definitely art/music spaces in adelaide i find quite insular and cliquey whether they realise it or not. i'm aware of how that's made me feel in the past and i aim to stay conscious of not contributing to that/when i may be. so yeah, it's good to see ppl like you guys/one & three, nevada who does the paper garden gigs, and others doing stuff. i'm also bored of the white/man dominance of music spaces, as a broader issue.. and i'm also just bored of guys offering to 'help', feelin all self righteous congratulating me on doin music as a woman like- all this...it has nothing to do with you
Tell us a bit about your process, how do you go about writing/and then performing live such gentle/drifting pieces? the texture in your songs makes them sound so spontaneous.
ah this question haha.. i'll just keep it simple cos in a way it is just simple. i try not to think about it too much and just go with feeling/what im responding to. the music i love the most is just what makes me feel something so i just try to remember the value in that, trusting that. in terms of stuff i do.. i like field recordings like i've used bus and ocean sounds....playing soft pop chords on guitar, singing into my laptop and looping/slicing, stuff like that
How would you describe Hummingbird and Yeo in three words?
warm. bit wild (hummingbird)
funweird pop stuff (yeo)
What are you looking forward to about their sets?
dancing or standing or something and feeling it, watching people i like do what they like
What have you got planned for this year?
