Sleepy Lizard, brainchild of Bill Meegan, has just dropped Rare Reptiles, an album with a blend of lo-fi indie disco pop tunes. We sat down with Meegan and got insight into the album, track by track.
Track 1: 'House!'
Being the first track on the album it is designed to seduce the listener with it’s sexy sax and sensual baseline. So light some candles and turn off the lights cause this one will have you feeling good until the morning light.
Track 2: 'Backbeat Of The Heart'
To be honest I have no F***ing idea what the chorus line of this song is supposed to mean, but it’s provocative and gets the people going so what the hell. Strong Chic vibes happening so crank it with your mum if she did a lot of coke in the late 70’s.
Track 3: 'Fallin’ Through The Night'
This is one of the more PG tracks on the album. I just wanted to write a song the whole family could enjoy on long car trips and lazy Sundays spent playing Boggle.
Track 4: 'Be My Lover'
I mean seriously if that bass line doesn’t get your nipples hard I dunno what will.
Track 5: 'Asleep At The Wheel'
At this point in the album I thought it was time to show a bit more of my sensitive side and less of the seed that you have come to know and love. Some serious power ballad vibes happening here so if anyone knows how to get in touch with Ed Sheeran let me know cause I wanna get him to re-record it.
Track 6: 'Juice'
Now this one is for all those beautiful ladies out there who’ve got that thing that makes you feel a bit tingly when they walk by.
Track 7: 'Suicide Machine'
I think this track sounds like The Bee Gee’s meets gangsta rap and could work if used in the trailer for an Adam Sandler movie about a underdog baseball team or whatever.
Track 8: 'Suzette'
So this is my personal favourite on the album for a number of reasons, first of which being that it is the first track I’ve ever busted some rhymes on and second being it seems to make people seriously uncomfortable, which has always been the primary goal of my music.
Track 9: 'Uncle Rico'
I honestly don’t know how to describe this one other than that it sounds like someone masturbating on LSD.
